surface during soil placement they should be removed to avoid damage to
reclamation equipment.
The overall classification of this series for use as a reclamation
material is excellent for each horizon.
RAZOR SERIES
This soil series has no chemical properties which would hinder or
preclude its use as a reclamation material. The pH, EC, and SAR values for
this series indicate that there is no salinity or alkalinity problems
associated with the A and 62t horizons. The B and C horizons have a slight
increase in alkalinity but are not saline. This increase in alkalinity is not
enough to preclude the series or horizons use as a reclamation material. The
selenium and boron levels in each of the horizons are far below those levels
which are considered to be of environmental concern for either plant or
animal life.
The physical characteristic of concern is the increased clay content and
the presence of basalt boulders. When this series is used for reclamation the
increased clay content will cause increased compaction, runoff and crusting.
These affects can be mitigated by incorporation of mulch. The basalt boulders
makeup a very small percentage of the total soil volume and are of no concern
if they are placed below the surface in the reclaimed areas. If the boulders
occur on the surface during soil placement they should be removed to avoid
damage to reclamation equipment.
The overall classification of this series for use as a reclamation
• material is excellent for the A horizon and good for the B2t. Band C
horizons.
SARATON SERIES
This soil series has no chemical properties which would hinder or
preclude its use as a reclamation material. The pH, EC, and SAR values for
this series indicate that there is no salinity or alkalinity problems
associated with the soil. The selenium and boron levels in each of the
horizons are far below those levels which are considered to be of
environmental concern for either plant or animal life.
The only physical characteristic of concern is the the presence of
numerous basalt boulders. The boulders makeup 15 to 70 percent of the total
soil volume and are of no concern if they are placed below the surface in the
reclaimed areas. If the boulders occur on the surface during soil placement
they should be removed to avoid damage to reclamation equipment.
The overall classification of this series for use as a reclamation
material is good for each horizon.
BEENOM SERIES
This soil series makes up only a small part of the mapping area and is
situated away from any proposed disturbance areas. Therefore no chemical or
physical analysis was performed on the series. The SGS Soil Survey of the
Paania area reports this series as being mildly alkaline with a clay loam
