Storage Buildine
The covered storage building is contiguous to the concrete pads and was similarly part of
the preparation plant structure. This building is constructed of concrete walls and Floor,
and steel beams supporting a steel roof. The building measures 44.5 feet long, 43.5 feet
wide, and 20 feet high. The floor is 17 inches thick, and the walls are 12 to 14 inches
thick. The location of storage building is shown on Map 12, Mine Site Water Systems and
Refuse Area and Figure 17-1, Reclamation Project 2 Plan.
The building has been modified to provide full access at ground level. Three openings
were cut into the east wall to accommodate access of mobile equipment. The surface
owner requested retention of the building with the above modifications. The storage
building will be used to store ranch equipment and hay in conjunction with postmining
land use of rangeland.
Steel Water Tank
A cylindrical steel tank of 150,000 gallon capacity was used to store water for mining
operations. The tank is 24 feet high constructed of 3/8 inch thick steel. The tank rests on
a sand and gravel foundation. It is located above the former site of the preparation plant
• and is higher than any point in the mine yard area. The location of the tank is shown on
Map 12, Mine Site Water Systems and Refuse Area and Figure 17-1, Reclamation Project
2 Plan.
At the request of landowner the tank will be retained. The tank is fed by a 4 inch water
line connected to a wcll owned by the surface owner. The water from this tank will be
used for livestock watering in conjunction with postmining land use of rangeland.
Water Line
A four-inch diameter water line was installed in the facility area to carry water from the
water well in Starkville to the water tank referenced above. The water line is equipped
with anti-siphon valves in a covered manhole located in the northwest portion of the
facility area. The water line traverses the facility in an east-west alignment, leaving the
disturbed area boundary near the northwest corner of the refuse pile. The location of the
water line corridor is shown on Map 12, Mine Sitc Water Systems and Refuse Area.

349 Revised (TR-17) January 1995
