2.05.3(3) MINE FACILITIES
` A list of existing facilities at the Raton Creek Mine site is presented below. Each
building, structure, and utility corridor is listed along with a description of its
construction, use, maintenance, and proposed removal plan or postmining use. In addition,
each item is shown on one or more permit maps that are referenced within the item
description.
Additional information about specific facilities is found in Section 2.05.4, Reclamation
Plan, and in Section 2.05.5, Postmining Land Use.
Power Transmission Lines
The Mine substation has been removed, however, the high voltage transmission lines
remain. The transmission lines and poles are owned by San Isabel Power Company,
which will continue to operate and maintain the line. The transmission lines run along the
south side of the facility area, mostly outside of the disturbed azea. The location of the
transmission lines is shown on Map 12, Mine Site Water Systems and Refuse Area.
Concrete Pads
The two-tier concrete pad structure and connecting retaining walls provided the foundation
of the preparation plant. The pads are 8 to 12 inches thick and the walls are 10 inches
thick; all containing rebar and steel beam reinforcement. Tl~e lower pad measures 61 feet
wide by 8l feet long, and the upper pad is 41 feet wide by 81 feet long. There is a 20
feet high wall connecting the lower pad to the upper pad, and a 14 feet high retaining wall
along the back edge of the upper pad. The concrete pads are situated in the center of the
facility area. Location of the pads is shown on Map 12, Mine Site Water Systems and
Refuse Area, and Figure 17-1, Reclamation Project 2 Plan.
Both pads have been cleaned of debris and modified for safe access. At the surface
owner's request, the concrete pads will remain. The pads will be used to store ranch
equipment, hay, and livestock feed, in conjunction with the postmining land use of
rangeland.

348 Revised (TR-17) January 1995
{{P S/S/95
