his agreement to this restriction.
5. Cultural Resource Site # SD4T2020 - This site is potentially
eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. We have
also received notice from the Hopi Cultural Preservation Office
stating their interest in this proposed gravel mining operation.
We have identified the site by temporary fencing and have
agreement from Mr. Stone not to mine this portion of the gravel
pit until further testing and site evaluation can be completed.
A part of the evaluation is contact with the Colorado State
Historic Preservation Officer.
6. Silt-Laden Runoff - Upon further consideration of surface
issues surrounding the proposed gravel operation, we see the
potential of silt moving from the gravel pit site to downstream
private lands in a thunder shower event. P1r. Stone has amended
his gravel mining plan to include adequate berms and restoration
of the intermittent drainage.
Based on the information we have received to date regarding the
permit, it appears that most of the foregoing recommendations
have been satisfactorily incorporated into the revised
application. We trust they will all be incorporated into final
permit approval.
Ode appreciate the opportunity to comment on the issues we have
identified as surface issues to the proposed plan. We will
monitor the mining operation as it begins and will continue to
work with Mr. Stone on the cultural resource issue. Enclosed is
a copy of our Environmental Analysis which was used to document
our interdisciplinary revieca and provide a basis for
understanding the recommended stipulations. If you have any
questions, please contact Clyde Johnson at (970) 385-1352.
Sincerely, ~
,~
Calvin N.~oy er
Area Mana er
Enclosure
cc: Letter and Enclosure
CERTIFIED P1AIL-RETURN RECEIPT
Daren Stone
Douglas Conger
Earl & Nelda Trost
Warren & Sylvia Lowe
Ruth Slickman
Aimee Boulanger
REQUESTED
Bruce Bradley
Frederick & Susan Bell
Buck & Betty Morris
Ric & Linda Emerson
Travis Stills
