Trucks transporting gravel products from the site will ,
naturally, increase pollutant emissions on some area
highways . However, the additional contribution will be
extremely small compared to normal pollutant emissions
that occur in the absence of gravel mining at the site.
Projected truck traffic from the site will be an average
of 93 round trip truck loads per day. These traffic
volumes will not produce measurable changes in air pol-
lution on the affected highways.
Air quality impact of reclamation of the mining site will
be similar to that of mining, but of lesser magnitude and
duration. Causes of pollution will be basically the same:
earthmoving, wind erosion of bare soil , operation of internal
combustion engines , and vehicle traffic. The quantities of
material moved, distances moved, and duration of operations
will all be much less than during actual mining. Further-.
more, reclamation involves no crushing, sorting, and
processing operations or comparable activity to produce
dust. It is therefore concluded that reclamation activities
at the site will involve only highly localized and temporary
increases in air pollution, all of which will be of minor
• consequence.
Summary and Conclusions
To summarize the analyses and conclusions that have been
G-18
