~~ • ~
page 2
Noise--Truck and Other
1. I have complained numerous times about trucks on 66 con-
tracted by the cement plant--NO RESPONSE
I have complained about trains at 2 and 3a.m. in the morning--
NO RESPONSE
I have mentioned cracks in walls and broken windown--NO RESPONSE
So why should I think things will change with the new mining.
Why will they suddenly take responsibility.
2. There will be no shadowing of noise from Dow Flats because
the land is too flat. The noise level will extend 2100 ft. all
around the mine site. I am in that zone.
3. Horns and backup alarms on the dozer, scraper, and grader
must be audible above the surrounding noise level (code).
There dB level is always higher than allowed (55) and they will
be used alot together. They will also be used in all phases
of site development and haul route construction.
4. Rock Drill--at grade so no noise reduction. A sound screen
will be positioned to sheild north, east, and west. I am south.
5. Haul Road--
47th street is on the eastern end of my pasture about 100yds.
from the house. I will not be able to keep animals in the pas-
ture, the truck noise will scare them. The noise impact on me
will be great as I am home during the week and they will be
running 10 hrs. a day, 45 trips per hour.
The report refers to the noise line as A FUZZY LINE WHICH IS
CONTINUOUSLY FLUCTUATIG IN LOCATION.
Haul Road--route 2
I am definately within the 1600 ft. range where noise will be
loud. The 85 T trucks are always above the 55 dB rate and they
will run 14 trips per hour.
5. Site Development and Mining Operations
All sound level measuring was done with not more than a 5 mph
wind. What happens on windy days?
This is a residential area, not industrial area and I don't
want it changed into one.
HAUL TRUCK NOISE EMISSIONS FOR THE VARIOUS HAULING ALTERNATIVES
CAUSE SLIGHT EXCEEDANCES OF NOISE STANDARDS AT SOME OFF-SITE
PROPERTIES. THESE ARE LOCATED ALONG HWY. 66 AND THE EXISTING
TRAFFIC NOISE WILL MASK THE HAUL TRUCK NOISE TO AN EXTENT.
I do not need more noise to live with.
