They say they will only blast when conditions are right,
gentle to moderate winds, 5 mph, This is rarely the case, wind
speed averaging 7.2 mph to strongest average of 45 mph.
3. The haul road will be gravel, 14 to 45 trips per hr. with big
trucks. I am east of this proposed road. The strongest winds
come from the west averaging 12.5 mph. The only time wind speed
is in the 5 mph range in from the east and south. North and west
is where the dust will come from. Dust from the pits and the
haul road.
Visual Impact
1. Definite property devaluation if water storage plan goes
through. Who wants to live below a 110 ft. dam?
2. Who wants to live between two mines?
Environmental Issues--Wildlife
1. Prairie dogs are already moving down to my land, deer also.
Mining will increase there numbers as the animals move to the
fringes.
2. I grow my own vegatables and invision crop damage from the
influx of animals.
Reservior(water storage project) vs Reclamation
1. If the reservior is built, there will be no reclamation and
wildlife will suffer.
2. Nothing will be done with the site for 25 yrs, until they put
water in it, just drill seed to stablize the soil.
I am presently in negotiations with Southdown to establish an
option/purchase agreement, and hope we can reach a settlement
as I definitely do not want to co-habitate with them if the Dow
Flats project becomes a reality.
Sincerely,
..9eGGGe. /)/G~~Lv /
Sue Richert
