The statements cited were taken directly from the written proposal offered by southdown. Air Overpressure, Ground Vibrations from Blasting 1. AT SUFFICIENTLY HIGH LEVELS GLASS BREAKAGE OR COSMETIC DAMAGE IN DRYWALL, CRACKING OF INTERIOR WALLS... I have already experienced such damage as well as movement of interior panneling leaving cracks, movement of deck support beams, and foundation cracks to name a few problems. I am presently 14 to 1} miles away from the present quarry. I will be ? mile away from the new operation in Dow Flats. 2. BLASTING CONDITIONS: RELATIVELY HIGH TO NO CLOUD COVER, TEMP. STABLE, 5 mph WINDS, GENTLE TO MODERATE... These conditions described are rare here. The wind blows alot and most of the time from the north. Consequently the dirt from blasting will cover my house and property. In the past 17 years I have lived here, I have experienced the dust cloud from the present quarry when the wind blew from the south a few times. Its terrible! They plan on blasting several times a week. What happens when it is windy for a long time as is often the case? Do they stop production? 3. GROUND ACCELERATION ASSOCIATED WITH MODERATE EARTHQUAKE... I do not want to live in an earthquake zone. We have experienced earth tremers and noise like a sonic boom from the blasting at the present quarry. 4. THERE WILL BE SOME LEVEL OF HUMAN PERCEPTION OF BLASTING AWAY FROM THE MINE BOUNDARY... Because I have already experienced the ill affects of the present blasting at~~ mile away, I can not accept much of their data as valid, and feel some of the facts may be distorted.
