I RBCLAIIATION PLAN ESHIBIT E (Continued)
Service, Eagle office. See Exhibit I/J of this application along
with the SCS's description of the soil and its properties.
FSRTILIBER.
The operator plans to collect samples of redistributed soil,
have it analyzed, and if necessary add fertilizers before seeding
as indicated by test results. Top soiled areas may be tested
again during the beginning of the second year and fertilizer added
accordingly because the soils may lose their nutrients rapidly.
If used fertilizer will be disced into the soil prior to planting
to boost the initial growing potential.
SEEDBED PREPARATION.
The surface will be left fairly rough where seed is to be
broadcast. This will enhance the revegetation attempt and create
] pockets for the seeds to germinate in.
' SEEDING TIME.
The seed mixture will be planted during one of two times. If
' fall planting is convenient, it will be performed before the first
freeze (about the time winter wheat is planted). If spring planting
' is convenient, it will be done in late April or in May. Planting
time will be controlled by when the soil areas are ready.
GRASSES.
The seed mixture is shown below incorporates native species
J of grass found on the site. In addition 3 shrubs that are native
to the site have been added too, these shrubs will be seeded at
l the same time as the grasses. The rates are obtained from data
i presented in Plant Materials for use on Surface-Mined Land in Arid
and Semiarid Regions, an SCS publication. This mixture is designed
for broadcast application. If the seed is drilled, the rates will
be halved.
i
14
