' MINING PLAN BBHffiIT D (Continued)
' reclamation and will be stockpiled along the east side of each
mining stage. This topsoil will be planted with a cover crop of
' western wheatgrass if left undisturbed for more than one (1) year.
The lower level cinder will be stockpiled on the mining floor and
removed by truck as needed.
' Once the any topsoil and overburden is removed the usable
cinder will be loaded into trucks by front-end loaders for deliver
' to the plant. Some of the overburden material is screened for use
by the State and County Highway departments. This material is
' stockpiled on the mined out area until removed by the highway
department. Since full depth has been reached at the current mining
' location the operation will be working on the open face removing
the overburden and mining the desirable material. Please refer to
' Map Exhibit D-1 for the locations of the mining stages and the
sequence of mining. It also shows the quarry as it would look when
Phase 0 is reclaimed, Stage 1 is partially reclaimed, partially
' mined and totally stripped.
Reclamation will be concurrent with mining. As mining continues
' along the cinder strata, any topsoil removed from the advancing
face, will be used to resoil the areas where full depth of mining
' was reached and will not be disturbed in the future. This will
create a relatively flat bench between the western most road and
the ephemeral drainage on the east.
No berms or dike will be constructed on this site. No water
impoundment will be used nor will water be used in the mining
' operation. We do not expect to change the historical surface or
subsurface drainage pattern of the affected lands. The underlying
' Maroon formation slopes to the south consistent with the surface
slopes because the cinder material is relative uniform over the
' affected lands. We donot expect to affect the ephemeral drainages
along the easter part of the affected lands. /
' The size of the topsoil stockpile will be approximately 7,000 V
yd3. Any overburden not used or required by the Highway department
will be used to shape slopes prior to resoiling.
1
9
