Dear Ms. Winter,
With the permission of Flatirons Sand and Gravel, I have been conducting
research on the breeding biology of red-winged blackbirds in your
sand pits near the Denver-Boulder turnpike and Table Mesa Drive.
I have been happy to note that your recent activities concerning
mining the gravel have not affected the breeding numbers or
success of these birds at all. Additionally, you have a
number of rather rare birds, such as sandpipers and rails which
breed in the same areas. I have also not noted any decrease
in their success. I am happy to deal with a company which
expresses an interest in the welfare of the wildlife within
its property and I would be willing to give you further
information on my studies if necessary.
