5.3.2.9 Coal Handling Structures
Trinidad Basin Mining employs an intermediate coal
storage area at the mine site for pit run coal before it is
transported to the loadout for crushing and sizing per customer
specifications.
The main ca~onent of the handling structures are located
in the City of Trinidad. Trinidad Basin Mining has leased a
loadout site from the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
Company for the purpose of storing, crushing, sizing and loading
croal into railroad cars for transport to customers. See Map
V-2. The coal is hauled from the mine via semi-tractor trailer
haul trucks and the coal is either placed into a stockpile or
dumped directly into the crusher. The coal is then processed
• through the crusher and screening plant. The coal is then
stockpiled or loaded directly into the railroad cars.
Upon conq~letion of the mining and the abandonment of
the loadout the site will be returned to its pram;n;nq and current
industrial use. The crusher and suing plant, buildings and
sedurent pond and ditches will be removed fran the site. Tne
site will be left in such a fashion as to allow future industrial
use. A11 of the coal fines will be reiroved and returned to the
pit for burial.
Topsoil does not exist at the site and no reclamation
work requiring topsoiling and seeding of the site is planned.
This type of reclamation work would not be consistent with the
• pOSt mining land LiSe.
V-18
