i
5.3.3 Mine Facilities
The only building on the site which is not mobile is the
shop/office building located adjacent to the county road. The
only other building associated with the m;n;nq are the explosive
storage structures. These structures are mobile trailers that
are used for storage of the blasting materials. The locations
of these strictures are presented on Map V-1.
The shop/office building is constructed of metal (shop
area) and brick (office area). The building has been in existence
since 1977 when operations were first initiated. The other
structures are completely mobile and can be easily moved around
the site.
The only structures at the mine for which specific design
• criteria exist are the haulsoads and sediment control system. The
design of the ponds for Section 22 is currently being reviewed
as part of the amendment to ~rmit Dhm~ber 79-53. The locations
of all oongonents of the sediment control are shown on the
~rlimant Control Map. Also, the design of each of the catq~onents
of the sediment control system is presented in FS~hibit V-3.
The haulroads currently servicing pits 1 and 2 are pre-
existing structures. The haul for pit 1 will be left as an access
road upon completion of mining in this area. It is anticipated
that mining >n pit 1 will be cca~leted by mid March, as plans to
mine cuts 3 4, and 5 have been abandoned due to coal quality
problems. The existing haulroads will be monitored by mine personnel
to ensure canpliance with the applicable performance standards.
Additionally, the life of these structures is relatively short and
V-19
