embaiilanent fill placed >n one foot lifts and compacted; spillways
• put in at appropriate elevations; riprap placed in emergency
spillways; and outslopes seeded. The ponds will be designed
by a registered professional engineer, airl the pond will be
constructed under the P.E.'s supervision and the pond will be
certified by a P.E. after construction.
The reclamation of the sediment control systEm will
be discussed in the reclamation plan. At a m;n;.mnn the ponds
will be in place for ten years from the date the bond release
period is activated. During this time the top and sides of the
embanlarent will be stabilized by establishment of a vegetative
rover.
5.3.2.3 Construction of Hal>> **~~~
• After or prior to construction of the sediment pond, haul
roads will be instructed into the mining areas. The sequence of
construction will depend on the accessability of the pond site.
In general, road construction will involve the prelimi-
nary step of grubbing and rzrroving tnpsoil faun within the outside
boundaries of the road plus five feet on both sides for a buffer
zone. The cut and fill sections will be constructed as per the
design specifications and adequate drainage provided. After the
road construction is completed the outslopes will be stabilized
with a vegetative cover to minimize ~ntributions of suspended
solids to the drainage.
5.3.2.4 Ghibbing of Woody Vegetation
Due to the fact that the majority of the area to be mined
V-9
