Waste
Engineering is a sister company of Wright Water Engineers. The new management of B&B
is actively pursuing the integration of environmental concern with gravel mining operations.
We have been working with B&B since August 1991. Recently, B&B's General Manager,
Scott Hoover, asked Waste Engineering to prepare an updated fuel containment plan in
response to your letter to Mr. Carl Mount of the Mined Land Reclamation office, dated
December 21, 1992. Wright Water Engineers completed NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System) Permits (Stormwater Permits) for B&B's Montgomery (Eagle) and
Calhoun/Eaton (Edwazds) pits in July 1992. In July of 1992 we consulted with B&B on
Above-ground Storage Tank (AST) regulations and petroleum spill containment.
B&B has provided us a copy of their existing "Fuel Containment Plan" which has been on file
for their operations. It was prepared by B&B staff. We do not know when the plan was
prepazed or if it was submitted to Eagle County to show compliance with the Special Use
Permit for the Montgomery Pit. Waste Engineering is presently reviewing and updating the
plan. It will be available for the County's review when it is complete.
Waste Engineering visited the Montgomery Pit on February 5, 1993 to locate and identify
petroleum storage areas on the site. All petroleum storage at the Montgomery Pit site is in
above-ground storage tanks.
Hazardous Waste • Hydrocarbon Contamination • Water Quality Control • Waste Treatment Design
