i
SECTION C - MI G AND RECLAMATION PLAN -77-13q
Mining of the proposed Reclamation Pit No . 2 is pro-
posed to be accomplished over 14 year period from seven areas-
phases as noted on the Mining Plan. The mining duration from
each area will vary from one year for Phase #3 to 4k years for
Phase #4. This , of course, again can slightly vary depending
on economic conditions and the demand for sand and gravel .
It must be emphasized that a concurrent-ongoing reclamation
process will take place with the continuous mining operation for
each phase-area.
The first step - Phase #1 (where operation presently exists)
will be the additional removal and temporary storage of topsoil
and overburden material. (Some operational procedures will apply
to all other subsequent areas . ) The locations of sand and gravel
and redi-mix plants are as noted on the vicinity photo-map and
Mining Plan. The actual sand and gravel extraction process will
take place in Phase #1, with the next phase to follow, until
total completion of mining operations through all phases has
taken place (14 years +) . The method of extraction will be
with a dragline, after the dewatering process has taken place .
After the sand and gravel has been dug , it is then hauled to the
processing plant(s) and delivered to the customers , or stored for
future deliveries upon demand.
Reclamation as mentioned earlier will be a concurrent activity
with mining, with backfilling, contouring and proper sloping
(3: 1 min) as part of the mining operation. Final reclamation for
each phase with grassing and tree planting to take place immedia-
tely upon completion of each area, weather and seasons permitting.
For complete revegetation program, see ^ection G - Soils and
Vegetation.
It must be noted that a couple of man-made features traverse
or are adjacent to subject property that dictates certain condi-
tions-limitations during mining operations .
First, the Chaffee Ditch which is the westerly boundary of
subject property, will receive every precaution and consideration
during mining period. A minimum 25 ' limit from the east bank (not
centerline) of the ditch will be maintained by the operator.
Similar mining precautions shall take place for the protection of
the Colorado-Wyoming natural gas main that cuts across the applicant' s
property in the north-south direction as noted in the Mining Plan.
The 8" gas line has an easement of 50 feet . Additional 45 ' mining
limit setbacks from the centerline of the gas main are provided
and will be maintained by the operator as shown on the Mining Plan.
For all other additional, natural or man-made physical features
that are not affected by the proposed mining and reclamation activities ,
see site photo-map as submitted.
''A-
