i <br /> SECTI.QN H - WILDLIFE <br /> The area,subject ',7 a s con j,ng that all of it has been in <br /> agricultural production in cloO proxim <br /> ity to industrial uses , <br /> does not harbor or offer much inducement for wildlife . <br /> Few sightings of skunks and numerous field mice just about <br /> complete the picture for mammal species . <br /> Of the Avian species , some-.,duck frequent the area along the <br /> river and also at the abandoned gravel pits adjacent and to the <br /> east of the subject property. <br /> Considering the fact that the subject property is 100% bare <br /> of any trees , and heavily cultivated each year (planted in corn) <br /> very few other Avian species with the exception of some sparrow <br /> forms exist in the area. No endangered species such as peregrine <br /> falcon or blackfooted ferret have ever been recorded in the area. <br /> Impact and Reclamation <br /> Through tree planting-revegetation and total reclamation <br /> process , as discussed earlier , including new lake areas to be <br /> created, new and additional wildlife habitats will be added in <br /> the area. The newly created lake area will improve-add new <br /> habitat for numerous species considered important to man (ducks , <br /> geese and related waterfowl) . <br /> In addition, the lake will add a new form of wildlife, namely <br /> fish, to the future enjoyment and recreational use of the area. <br /> Conclusion <br /> The proposed Cowan Concrete, Inc . , mining and reclamation <br /> activity will not have any significant impact upon Colorado <br /> wildlife . <br /> On the contrary, the reclamation program will enhance, add <br /> and open new habitats for wildlife and at the same time it will <br /> provide a new natural recreational resource for man. <br /> -9- <br />
