<br /> <br />(•~ ?SB--Patent-Brownsto complex, 2 to 13 Percent slopes <br />• This map unit is on foot slopes, fans and terraces. The native vege- <br />tation is mainly grass and pinyon-~vniper. Elevation is 6,600 to 7,600 feet. <br />The average annual precipitation is about 11 to 15 inches, the average annual <br />air temperature is 43 to 47 degrees F, and the average frost-free season is <br />95 to 115 days. <br />This unit is about 60 percent Patent soil and about 110 percent Brownsto <br />soil. The Patent soil occurs mainly under grass vegetation. The Broxnsto <br />soil occurs.mainly under stands of pinyon and juniper. <br />The.°~tent soil is deep and well drained. "It formed in recent alluvium. <br />Typically;-the surface Sayer is -grayish brown sandy loam about 6 inches thick. <br />(( The substratum is sand loam 22 inches thick over loam that extends to a depth <br />• of 60 or more inches. <br />The permeability of the Patent soil is moderate. Available water capacity <br />is moderate. Effective rooting-depth is more than 60 inches. Runoff is medium <br />to rapid, and the hazard of erosion of bare soil is slight to very high. <br />The Brownsto soil is deep and well drained. It is formed in gravelly <br />alluvium. Typically, the surface is grayish brown gravelly sandy loam about <br />5 inches thick. The substratum is gravelly sandy loam about 11 inches thick <br />over very gravelly sandy loam that extends to a depth of 60 inches. <br />The permeability of the Brownsto soil is moderately rapid. Available <br />~,*ater capacity is lou. Effective rooting depth is more than 60 inches. Run- <br />(. off is medium to rapid, and the hazard of erosion of bare soil is slight to <br />J <br />
