The native vegetation is mainly grass and (orbs. <br />The average annual precipitation is 11 to ].A inches, the average annual <br />air temperature is l:s to 47 degrees F., and the average frost-free season <br />is 95 to ll5 days. <br />Typically, the surface layer is broxn gravelly sandy loam about ll inches <br />thick. The substratum is gravelly sandy loam to a depth of 60 or more <br />inches. The soil is moderately alkaline and calcareous throughout. <br />Included in this units txo areas-of irrigated Goslin fine sandy loam <br />with slopes 1 to 3 percent on stream terraces along the east side of <br />the Arkansas :liver about one-ha1S mile south of Hoxard. This soil is <br />• fine sand loam xith generally Iox content of gravel. Also included is <br />about 10 percent very gravelly and cobbly soil along xashes and creeks. <br />This Soil is often under cottonxoods or pinyDn and juniper. <br />The permeability of this-Goslin soil is moderately rapid. Available <br />xater capacity is moderate.
