4.4.3 Loadout
4.4,3.1 Reclamation Timetable
A timetable far the interim reclamation program is presented in
tabular form in Table 4.4,3-1.
Final reclamation will begin at the cessation of operations.
Dismantling and removal of the surface facilities, removal of road-
beds, grading and backfilling will require approximately 6 to 8
months. This work will be timed in order to accommodate immediate
redistribution of topsoil and seeding in fall according to the
Reclamation Plan. Some reseeding may be required the following year.
Irrigated cropland will have stands reestablished the summer following
• seeding, and productivity should be reestablished to pre-mining levels
in 2 to 3 years. The dryland area of the truck dump site will take 4
to 6 years after initial seeding to ensure permanent, self-
perpetuating vegetative cover.
4.4.3.2 Interim Reclamation Plan -- Loadout
The interim plantings at the Loadout are clustered, informal, natural-
looking groups of native and exotic ornamental species designed to
reduce visual impact. Species were chosen along similar guidelines to
usual reclamation planning, such as adaptability to harsh site con-
ditions, but more ornamental species are included for better visual
results. Objectionable species have been avoided. Table 4,4.2-1 is a
list of tree and shrub species. A drawing is included showing the
layout of the plantings (see Drawing D-4-14 ). A Timetable is
included in Section 4.4.3,1 of this application which shows the phases
of work involved in this Interim Reclamation Plan. The following
1
discussion is intended to clarify the measures outlined in the Interim
Reclamation Plan Timetable.
4-74
