No Action Alternative <br />Fremont County would obtain gravel elsewhere. This could result in a <br />higher coat for the county. <br />D. Comparison of Alternatives <br />The Proposed Action would result in a similar but much longer term <br />impact than a short-term permit. The No Action Alternative would result in no <br />impacts at this site. <br />III. ~~.FFECTED ENVIRONMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES <br />A. Setting <br />The area is a few miles north of Cotopaxi along Fremont County Road <br />12. It: is adjacent to a small drainage called Red Gulch. Tributaries to Red <br />Gulch called Quagmire Creek and Monument Creek converge just south of the <br />proposed gravel pit. Elevations range from 9,000 feet to 9,250 feet. The area <br />ie genE:rally forested but the proposed site is not. A road realignment is <br />being proposed in the same area as Fremont County has had difficulty <br />maintaining the road in this area. <br />4•. Critical Elements <br />1. ThreetenedJEndangered Species <br />None are reported in the area. <br />2. Floodpleins and Wetlands <br />None are present in the subject area. <br />3. Wilderness/ACEC/Wild and Scenic River <br />None of these are present in the subject area. <br />4. Visual Resource Management <br />a.
