PARTI
Page 9
Permit No. COR-040000
B. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN -ACTIVE MINFS (coat.)
be incorporated is the SWMP by reference, as long u a Complete SWMP can be reproduced and submitted to the
requesting agency within the time fratae specified in the request. Those portions of the referenced documents must be
included in the submittal. The SWMP must also be readily available to m oa-site inspector.
9. Allowable Non~tormwater Discharges
The plan shall identify all sources of irrigation rearm flow and natural uncontaminated spring water that are combined
with stormwater discharges associated with industrial activity. The plan shag identify and ensure the implementation of
appropriate mna~+.»= to prevent pollution of the non-stormwater component(s) of the discharge.
irrigation return flow and natural spring water which mixes with mine draimge or process water becomes mine drainage
or process water.
C. STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN -INACTIVE MINFS
A Stormwater Management Plea (SWMP) shall be developed for each inactive mine covered by this permit. The SWMP shall
be prepared in accordance with good engineering practices. (T7te plan need not be completed by a registered engincerJ The
plan shall identify potential sources of pollution (including sediment) which may reasonably be expected to affect the quality
of stormwater discharges associated with the inactive mining operation. Ia addition, the plan shall describe and ensure the
implementation of best menagemmt practices (BMPs) which will be aced to reduce the pollutants in stormwater discharges
associated with the inactive mining operation.
As a condition of this permit, inactive mining operations most certify the completion and implementation of the SWMP required
under this part. Inactive mining operations must implement the provisions of their SWMP as a condition of this permit.
The Division reserves the right to request and review the plans, and to require additioml measures to prevent and control
pollution, as needed. The SWMP shag include the following items, at a minimum:
Description of Mininc Attiyities
The plan shall provide a narrative description of the mining and associated activities that took place at the site. The
narrative description shall report the approximate dates of opera[ion, the total acreage within the mine site and an estimate
of the number of acres of disturbed area. A general description of the location of the mining site relative to major
transportation routes end communities shall also be provided.
2. Site Mao
Each plan shall provide a generalised site map or maps which indicate any of the following which may be applicable:
- mining/milling site boundaries and access and haul roads;
- areas used for storage of overburden, materials, soils, tailings or wastes;
- areas used for outdoor manufacturing, storage or disposal of materials;
- tailings piles and ponds;
- en estimate of the direction(s) of flow,
- existing structural control measures to reduce pollutants in stormwater ronoff; and
- sprmgs, 6treams, Wetlands and Othe[ surface waters.
3. Description of Potential Pollutant Sourses/Material Inventory
The plan shall provide a description of potential sources which may reasonably be expected to add pollutants to
stormwater discharges. The plan shall include en inventory and narrative description of any significant materials (see
• definitions is Part I.D. of this permit) that may still be at the site. This description of sources should agree with sources
identified on the map. The SWMP shall assess the potential of these pollutant sources at the mine to contribute pollutants
to stormwater discharges.
