<br />(6). Mulc and Anchoring - Hay mulch will be applied at the rate of <br />,000 pounds per acre. At least 5096 of the mulch by weight shall <br />be 10 inches or more in length. Mulching material may be apk~lied <br />immediately before or after the eeeding operation. Mulch will be <br />spread luiiformly over the area either by hand or with a mechanical <br />mulch spreader. A heavy disk or mulch crimper with flat serrated <br />disks at leaeit one-fourth inch thick, with drill edges and spaced <br />no more than nine inches apart should be used to anchor the mulch <br />into the soil. to a depth of about four inches. Mulch ehoald not <br />be covered with an excessive amount of soil. Number of passes over <br />the mulch should not exceed two operations and ehou7.d be across <br />the elope where practioable. <br />Other accepte~ble'methode of mulching are available and may be used <br />in liou of the above_deecribed method. <br />(']). Seedin - Seeiding operations may be performed in the late fall <br />or no later i;han May 1 in the spring. <br />(8 ). Method of Seedird - Seeding operations, where poss>,ble, should be <br />done across i;he elope. Seeding will be done with a grass drill <br />' capable of handling the seed being planted.
