UPLAND GRAVEL PIT NO. 3 <br />EXHIBIT D <br />MINING PLAN <br />Heavy equipment, fuel trucks and maintenance equipment related to the operation shall <br />be stored at the site. Additional heavy equipment and conveyors may be temporarily on <br />site during crushing/screening operations. <br />Dust control of haul road and top soil berms shall be maintained with water trucks and <br />sprinkling systems as needed. <br />Portable Sanitary facilities shall be maintained at the excavation and the processing site <br />as needed. <br />The soils characteristics are generally uniform throughout the site and a re-vegetation <br />plan recommended by the Tri-river Extension Service will be utilized. <br />No discharge of storm water shall occur from the affected area because of the <br />excavation design (no outlet) and retention dike at the pit entry. <br />No blasting will occur during the extraction process. <br />7.) PROJECTED NEED: <br />It is anticipated that 30-40,000 ton of crushed material plus 10-20,000 ton raw material <br />will be mined annually to meet the demand of the community. <br />8.) EXISTING/SURROUNDING USES: <br />The proposed BLM mining site is presently zoned agricultural/forestry transitional (AFT). <br />United Companies operates a gravel extraction pit approximately 1/2 mile to the North of <br />the proposed site and presently uses B Road for access to Hwy. 141. Parkerson <br />Construction operates Valle Vista Pit approximately 1/2 mile to the Southwest of the <br />proposed site. <br />9.i TRANSPORTATION: <br />Dump trucks will be used to transport the material approximately 3000 feet from the <br />processing and storage site to be weighed at the scales proposed to be installed near <br />the end of the BLM gravel haul road and beginning of the paved Springfield Ranch road. <br />It is estimated that an average of 600 loads per week with a maximum of 200 loads per <br />day will be hauled from the site. <br />10.) COMPATIBILITY OF LAND USE: <br />This site is located within the perimeter of an identified minerals resource area (A-4) an <br />Plate 2 of the "Mineral Resource Survey of Mesa County° and is supported by Mesa <br />County Mineral Extraction Policy. <br />
