BOZEMAN SILT LOAM - (4) <br />Taxonomic Class: Fine-silty, mixed Argic Pachic Cryoborolls. <br />A 0-8" -- Very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2, moist) silt loam; moderate <br />coarse granules; friable, slightly sticky, plastic; many fine and few medium <br />and coarse roots; medium acid, pH 5.8; clear smooth boundary. <br />Btl 8-14" -- Dark brown (lOYR 3/3, moist) silt loam; strong medium blocky <br />structure; firm, sticky, plastic; thick waxy clay films on ped faces and in <br />root channels and pores; few medium and coarse roots and common fine roots; <br />medium acid, pH 5.7; gradual smooth boundary. <br />Bt2 14-22" -- Dark brown (lOYR 3/3, moist) silty clay loam; strong coarse <br />blocky structure; firm, sticky, plastic; thick waxy clay films on ped faces <br />and in root channels and pores; many fine roots; slightly acid, pH 6.5; <br />gradual smooth boundary. <br />653 22-33" -- Dark brown (lOYR 3/3, moist) silty clay; strong coarse blocky <br />structure; very firm, very sticky, very plastic; thick waxy clay film on ped <br />faces and in pores and root channels; many fine and few medium roots; mildly <br />alkaline, pH 1.5; diffuse smooth boundary. <br />Cy 33-51" -- Dark yellowish brown (lOYR 3/4) silty clay; massive; very firm, <br />very sticky, very plastic; few fine roots; slightly effervescent; slightly <br />alkaline, pH 7.8; gradual smooth boundary. <br />C 51-60" -- Yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) and grayish brown (2.5Y 5/2) clay <br />loam; massive; firm, sticky, very plastic; few fine roots; slightly <br />effervescent; moderately alkaline, pH 8.0. <br />Sampling Location (Typical Pedon): Twentymile Coal Company's Foidel Creek <br />permit area, Sample site #3. SW 1/4, SW 1/4, SW 1/4, Section 16, T5N, R86W, <br />Routt County, Colorado. <br />Range in Characteristics: Thickness of the mollic epipedon ranges from 16 to <br />40 inches.
