• SLOCUM TAXAJUNCT - (2) <br />Taxonomic Class: Fine-silty, mixed Aquic Cryoborolls. <br />Oi 2-0" -- Undecomposed and partially decomposed organic material. Mostly <br />rushes, sedges, and water-tolerant grasses. <br />A 0-12" -- Very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2, moist) clay loam; moderate <br />medium blocks; firm, slightly sticky, plastic; common fine and medium roots, <br />few coarse; medium acid, pH 5.7; gradual smooth boundary. <br />Bw 12-29" -- Olive brown (2.5Y 4/3, moist) silty clay loam; weak fine blocky <br />structure; firm, sticky, plastic; common fine and medium roots; neutral, <br />pH 7.1; gradual wavy boundary. <br />Cgl 29-43" -- Dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2, moist) loam; few fine distinct <br />dark yellowish brown (lOYR 4/4) mottles; massive; friable, slightly sticky, <br />plastic; few fine and medium roots; slightly effervescent; mildly alkaline, <br />pH 7.4; gradual smooth boundary. <br />Cg2 43-53" -- Dark gray (lOYR 4/1, moist) loam; few fine distinct dark brown <br />(7.5YR 4/4) mottles; massive; friable, slightly sticky, plastic, few fine and <br />medium roots; slight]y effervescent; mildly alkaline, pH 7.6; clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />• Cg3 53-60" -- Gray (lOYR 5/1, moist) loam; common medium distinct dark brown <br />(7.5YR 4/4) mottles; massive; friable, slightly sticky, plastic; few medium <br />roots; slightly effervescent; mildly alkaline, pH 7.7. <br />Sampling Location (Typical Pedon): Twentymile Coal Company's Foidel Creek <br />permit area, Sample site #8. NW 1/4, SW 1/4, SE 1/4, Section 17, TSN, R86W, <br />Routt County, Colorado. <br />Range in Characteristics: Thickness of the A horizon ranges from 7 to <br />16 inches. Textures in the 10 to 40 inch control section range from clay loam <br />to silty clay loam to loam. Sand coarser than very fine sand averages less <br />than 15%. <br />Drainage and Permeability: Somewhat poorly drained; moderately slow <br />permeability. <br />Depth to Water Table: Greater than 60 inches on August 2, 1984. <br /> <br />Ex. 15-3 <br />
