• PARACHUTE LOAM (X2F) <br />Taxonomic Class: Loamy, skeletal, mixed Typic Cryoborolls. <br />Al 0-5" -- Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) loam, dark brown (lOYR 3/3) moist; weak <br />fine subangular blocky structure that parts to moderate fine granular; <br />slightly hard, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; many fine <br />roots; neutral; clear smooth boundary. (4 to 8 inches thick) <br />621 5-13" -- Very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) loam, very dark brown (lOYR <br />2/2) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, <br />friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; 5 to 10 percent fine channery <br />material; many fine roots; neutral; clear smooth boundary. (5 to 9 inches <br />thick) <br />622 13-18" -- Brosn (lOYR 5/3) loam, brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; weak medium <br />subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and <br />slightly plastic; 10 to 15 percent fine and medium channery material; common <br />fine and medium roots; neutral; clear wavy boundary. (4 to 8 inches thick) <br />83 18-29" -- Light yellowish brown (lOYR 6/4) extremely channery loam, <br />yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) moist; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; <br />hard, friable, sticky and plastic; 80 percent channery material, mostly 3/4 <br />to 3 inch size; few medium and fine roots; neutral; clear wavy boundary. (6 <br />• to 16 inches thick) <br />R -29" -- Hard, slightly fractured sandstone. <br />Sampling Location: Based on SCS Soil Series Description. <br />Range in Characteristics: Depth to the lithic contact ranges from 20 to <br />40 inches. The control section is typically loam and has 18 to 35 percent <br />clay. Rock fragments range from 35 to 85 percent by volume, most of which are <br />3/4 to 3 inches in length. <br />The Al and 82 horizons have hue of 7.5YR through 2.SY, value of 3 through 5 <br />dry, 2 or 3 moist and chroma of 2 or 3. <br />The 63 horizon and the C horizon, if present, have hue of 7.SYR through 2.5Y. <br />Drainage and Permeability: Well drained; moderately permeable. <br />Depth to Water Table: Greater than 60 inches. <br /> <br />Ex. 15-14 <br />
