C~
Hydrologic Monitoring Information
Surface Water Monitorine
Upstream monitoring has been conducted on Trout Creek in the NW/4 of Sec. 27, T4N,
R86W since September of 1980. Monitoring included flow and the field parameters
outlined on page 65.06. The 16 years of data show Flows ranging from 20 to 80 cubic
feet per second and EC's of 80 to 130 micromhos per centimeter. Levels of pH have
been between 6.0 and 7.3.
Downstream monitoring has been accomplished by using a location monitored by The
Pittsburgh & Midway Coal Mining Co. site located approximately 2.2 miles
downstream on Trout Creek. This site, called TR-A, is located in the SW/4 of the SE/4
of Section 14, T4N, R86W. Water quality samples are taken a short distance upstream
from the station where Koll (Coal) Ditch No. 1 leaves Trout Creek. Flow readings from
this site are called "TR-A" by Pittsburgh & Midway.
Due to potential quality problems with the P&M "TR-A"location from downstream
sources and since the TR-A site is a significant distance downstream, Sunland has
agreed, at the wishes of the DMG, to sample Trout Creek at a point immediately
downstream of the mine disturbed area, as shown on the revised Map Exhibit P-3. This
change will take effect in the fall of ]997.

Revised 8/16/99 ~~ ., 0 ~ P (ol
