The sandstone below the blacksmith seam is 260'
below the lower pinnacle seam which we are mining. The
lowest elevation which Trout Creek reaches on our permit
area is 7380'. This places this sandstone over 200'
below the Trout Creek valley floor.
Even though the area to the northeast of the graben
containing our permit area is upthrown, it is not up-
thrown enough to expose this sandstone. This is
evidenced by the old Joe's Mine (shown on the Rattlesnake
Butte Quad) which is located in the upthrown block outside
Sunland's graben.
,The portal of Joe's Mine, which is located in the
lower pinnacle seam, is approximately 7390' MSL. This
correlates the top of the sandstone in this area at 7130'
MSL. Trout Creek has an elevation of 7210' at the bridge
where county roads 27 b 29 intersect. Regional geology
indicates that with increasing distances down-stream from
this point, higher and higher strata are exposed thus
increasing the separation distance between Trout Creek
and this sandstone.
Since this sandstone overlays the Tow Creek sandstone,
there simply is no connection of the Tow Creek sandstone
with Trout Creek anywhere within or downstream of Sunland's
permit area.

Rev 05/05/81

ba.3
