' EXHIBIT D (Cont'd)

The majority of the area in Stage 7 will have been mined
previously in Stages lA, 2A a nd 3A. Stage 7 will level the
pit floor with a south slope from an elevation of 59001 feet

on the north to 58801 feet on the south.
Stage 8 will be approximately sixty percent newly-
disturbed area. About forty percent of Stage 8 will be the
final cut on the north end of Stages lA, 2A and 3A. The north
Y and east perimeters of the pit will be mined in Stage 8.
°]1 Slopes will be maintained at 2 to 1. The east slopes will be
backfilled to 4 to 1; however, the 2 to 1 slopes along the
north pit perimeter will remain as mined.
After Stage 8 is completed, all subsequent mining will
occur on undisturbed land. The established stripping and
mining pattern will be followed to completion~of Stage 14.
Except in Stages 0, lA, 2A and 3A, all topsoil and over-
burden will be used to reclaim the previous stage. The
majority of the topsoil and overburden in Stages lA, 2A and
3A was removed from the affected land prior to enactment of
the statute. Most of this material was pushed over the edge
r of the hill and was lost. The topsoil and overburden that
1 remains will be put into Stockpile Area 2 (Map Exhibit•D-1).
I There will be an insufficient amount of topsoil from Stages lA,
2A, 3A and 7 to reclaim Stage 6; therefore, a portion of the
topsoil from Stage 6 will be stockpiled on the west edge, and
the remainder will be used to reclaim Stage 5. After Stage 6
is mined, the topsoil from the stockpile on the west edge of
-12-
