• EXFI•IT B (Cont' d) <br />Mining Plan. 6lining will be conducted in 18 stages so as <br />to minimize the surface disturbances. The stages are designated <br />0, lA, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and <br />19. The majority of Stage O and a portion of Stages lA, 2A <br />and 3A were mined prior to enactment of the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Act. Topsoil and overburden from Stage 0 were <br />stored in Stockpile Area 1 as shown on Map Exhibit D-1. This <br />topsoil and overburden will be used to reclaim the final <br />I mining stages. <br />I Stages 1, 2 and 3 will be mined in two areas each during <br />the same approximate time span (see Map Exhibit D-1). Stages <br />I lA, 2A and 3A are at the north end of the property and cover <br />the same surface area. These stages are vertical continuations <br />of mining from one stage to another. During these stages <br />both clay and silica sand will be mined in benches to an eleva- <br />tion of 5950f feet. These three stages will last approximately <br />4 12 to 18 years. At the same time, Stages 1B, 2B and 3B will <br />4 be mined for clay. These stages are located near the south <br />I end of the property. Mining will start in Stage 1B just north <br />of Stage 0 (Map Exhibit D-1) and continue moving north through <br />Stages 2B and 3B. Mineable quantities of silica sand are not <br />expected to be encountered in these latter stages. When mining <br />is completed in Stages 3A and 3B and operations in Stage 4 have <br />commenced, mining will return to a single-area operation and <br />continue in numeric sequence for the remainder of the life of <br />the mine. <br />-11- <br />
