C~ <br />• <br />.. <br />RECLAMATION PLAN <br />Plan 5 <br />Preferred schrub species to be transplanted or purchased from CSU, if and <br />when available, will include: <br />true mountain mahogany <br />rubber rabbitbrush <br />douglas rabbitbrush <br />skunkbush sumac <br />gambels oak <br />(Cercocarpus montanus) <br />(Chrysothamnus nauseousus) <br />(Chrysothamnus nauseosus) <br />(Rhus trilobata) <br />(Quercus gamgell) <br />The following peeferred species will be introduced via "clump transplanting" <br />to reclaimed sited, although actual seeding of grasses to tree areas will <br />be minimal in order to reduce grassland competition with young tree seedlings. <br />For seeding of "mined" topsoil areas, a mixture of the following species will <br />be sawn at a rate of 4tAfFper acre, utilizing conventional seeding techniques. <br />Russian wildrye <br />Sand dropseed <br />Indian ricegrass <br />Crested Wheatgrass <br />Blue grams <br />Yellow sweetclover <br />Fourwing saltbush <br />Western Wheatgrass <br />All of the above are available from Sharp Bros. Seed Co., Healy, Kansas 67850. <br />A fall planting is under consideration for the above grass mixtures as is <br />the schedule for attempted transplanting of evergreens found in other areas <br />of mine land. Applications of inorganic fertilizers or manure may be <br />necessary, should soil analysis show deficiencies after topsoil "mining" <br />Manure would be applied at a rate of 15 tons per acre, subject to change. <br />.r. <br />
