It is quite clear that the Iuppa well is completed in a very poor <br />aquifer or has been contaminated by previous mining. The current <br />activities have not had a detectable impact upon the Iuppa well. <br />Also, water in the Sundance well, completed in the Trinidad <br />Sandstone, showed no deterioriation in level or quality during <br />the first permit term. <br />Mine Water Inflows <br />Depillaring in the Raton Creek Mines has had undetectable <br />impact upon the groundwater of the permit area. Verme.io <br />Formation drill holes completed below the Lower Starkville Seam, <br />within or surrounding the Raton Creek .Mines, showed meager, <br />.less 1 gpm, water resource potentials. Also, mine inflows of <br />`titi <br />the Re[on creek No.1 Anne are restricted to the near-portal area and are a <br />reflection of precipitation events, more so, than dewatering of <br />the strata. The mains inby the area of de-pillaring are dry. <br />To some extent, the mine water inflows and subsequent discharges <br />reflect spring snowmelt and precipitation. However, the <br />elevations and climate of the site preclude true snowpack <br />conditions. On occasion there have been higher discharges in <br />winter than in spring or summer thereby suggesting mid-winter <br />melting. <br />The shallow cover over the anti reRelon Cr«k Nu.2 Minei s such that near <br />surface inflows come not only from the portal areas but also from <br />the northern and northwestern workings.
