Topsoil replacement and revegetation will follow recontouring as described
(see pages 780-107-1 and 780-117-1).
• In order to facilitate the backfilling of the Area 61 pit it is necessary to
construct a walk back around the southern end of the pit. The permit
boundary in Section 9 has been modified to allow this activity. The new
permit boundary description is as follows: T4N, R86W, Section 9 - W1/2
NW1/4, SE1/4 NW1/4, W1/2 SW1/4, NE1/4 SW1/4, and N1/2 SE1/4
SE1/4. Prior to this revision the permit boundary had the following
description W; NW}, SE} NW}, N} SW}, SW1 SW}. All descriptions are to the
nearest quarter quarter section. The revised permit boundary is shown on
Permit Renewal Map Nos. 1, 2 & 5.
The walk back road will require removal of topsoil from the area and
leveling of the road surface. The topsoil will be bladed to the side of the
area and stockpiled temporarily. The topsoil will be ripped and then
salvaged to a depth of approximately 20 inches. Approximately 2700 CY of
topsoil will be stockpiled, with approximately 1/3 of this yardage placed in
the NE stockpile and 2/3 in the SW stockpile. After the dragline uses the
• road the topsoil will be redistributed over the site. The dragline
walkback road corridor will be approximately 200 feet wide.
The levelling will require minor cut and fill work, with the maximum cut
approximately 5 feet in depth. The cut slopes will not be steeper than
1.5H:1V. Drainage from the area will be directed back to the Area 61 pit,
or into the watershed serviced by Pond A. When the road is reclaimed the
site will be graded so it blends in with the surrounding topography.
The topsoil replacement will occur either in February or March, 1990 or
after mid July, 1990. Equipment and weather will dictate the topsoiling
schedule. Given the short stockpile period the topsoil will be as live
handled topsoil and will not require seeding.
•
TR 90-29 Permit Renewal 780-1-3 Revised 04/11/90
