Colorado Yampa Coal Company has revised the seed mixtures for rangeland,
pastureland and cropland to reflect the deletion of alfalfa aryl substitution of
• bisrlsfoot trefoil. Also, the revised tables indicate the deletion of other
~~~ arrl forts which have not been successful in establishment aryl the
adjustment in the seeding rate for the species being planted. The revised tables
are labeled as Permit Renewal Table 8, Rangeland Seed Mixture, Permit Renewal
Table 12, Cropland Seed Mixture, aryl Permit Renewal Table 13, Pastureland Seed
Mixture.
In addition to planting shrub seeds on rangeland sites, CYOC will continue to
plant a total of a~mmx;mately 10,000 containerized and bare-root seedlings per
year. 'The front~rd loader will also continue to be used to transplant trees and
shrubs as materials are available. However the number has been reduced to 6000
woody plants (approximately 400 loader pads) per year (see technical revision
approved April 23, 1986).
CYCC will be constructing swaths to facilitate planting of bare-root and
wntainerized seedlings. 'Ihe swaths will be approximately eight feet wide and
five inches deep aryl will be ripped to a depth of at least one foot. These
• swaths will serve to decrease grass ~tition and prwrote a mixing of the
topsoil and spoil interface, thus i~rovirg water infiltration. Shzvb transplant
swaths shall not exceed 10$ of the acreage of the revegetated stand to which they
are applied.
In order to „NY;m;ze the utilization of the reclamation, CYCC will be
constructing a rnnober of livestock water tanks throughout the permit area. The
stock ponds are discussed in greater detail within the section titled Ponds.
7]Iwourldments and Diversions, beginnim on page 780-208-1.
•
Permit ReneFral 780-117-2 Revised 03/11/91
