Area
51
61
Year
1986, i987, 1988, 1989
1986, 1987, 1988, 1989
The backfilling and grading plan reflects the above producticn rate. This
plan may be revised if the mining schedule is modified due to market
conditions. A combination of dozers, scrapers, and graders may be used in
completing the backfilling and regrading. The backfilling schedule is
presented on Map 6, Remaining Spoil Grading Plan. The map has been modified
to reflect conditions as of the first quarter of 1989. The remaining
schedule is as follows:
Area Year
51 1989, 1990
60 1989, 1990, 1991
Haul Road 1990, 1991
Although the plans presented in the 1986 Permit Renewal submittal did not
.~ indicate coal would be mined under the spoil buffer zone in Area 51, CYCC
had retained that option. Conditions have al]owed for additional mining in
Area 51; mining in area G1 has continued through 1988. Additionally,
Colorado Yampa Coal Company will be mining a portion of Area 51 East in
1989. Depending upon mining conditions, a total of four cuts will be
mined. Mining of Cut I will begin in January of 1989. Permit Renewal Flap
5, Eckman Park Mine Plan, Roads, Power Lines, and Facilities, indicates the
location of the four cuts. If ail cuts are mined, coal production in Area
51 East will cease at the end of April 1989.
Figure 8, Area 51 East Buffer Zone, indicates the locaticn of the buffer
zone for the area and the approximate location of highwall stabi]ity
markers. The markers are placed 20 feet from the topsoil/reclamation area.
Excavation of the overburden matErial will not encroach beyond currently
existing field conditions as indicated on Figure 8, Area 51 East Buffer
Zone, and as specified in tiinor Revision 89-36. The highwall appears to be
stable and significant sloughing is not anticipated.
MR 89-36 Permit Renewal 780-1-[ fevised OG/24/89
