All topsoil removal is complete with the exception of removal which may be
required by future revisions and modifications.
•
The method of live handling as approved on April 8, 1985 and modified as of
October 17, 1985 consists of the following.
Prior to topsoil removal, all vegetation that would hinder topsoil removal
is treated with the Madge Rotoclear pulled by a dozer as approved December
4, 1981. The topsoil is then removed with scrapers and immediately
deposited on regraded spoil. Soil is removed in 2 separate lifts. The
first lift consists of 16-18 inches in rotocleared areas and 10-12 inches in
non-roto-cleared areas. The remaining topsoil is picked up in the second
lift. These 2 lifts are then laid down in the reverse order so that the top
layer remains on the surface in the reclaimed area. After replacement, the
surface is graded and contour furrows constructed. The site is then left
alone to rely on the natural processes of seed germination and root
sprouting to revegetate the site.
• PiR 89-36 Permit Renewal 780-107-3a Revised 04/24/89
