No additional access roads or surface disturbances are
anticipated. The pre-existing mine access road of
approximately 0.3 miles leads from County Road #1 to the
Hopemore Shaft. This road is indicated on the attached
portion of the topography map of the Leadville Mining
District, scale 1-9600, dated June, 1913. (See Exhibit E -
Map, L-3) This road is adequate for our needs,
In addition to the Hopemore Shaft, the surface plant is
comprised of a combination hoistroom and shop building and
a separate water tank storage building located east of the
hoistroom/shop. (See Exhibit E - Map, MLR2)
Federal safety regulations require a suitable second
exit to be available for use by personnel working
underground in the event of some catastrophe at the main
mine entrance, Our proposed second exit will be either the
Hunter Shaft or the New President Shaft. Final
determination can only be made after an evaluation of
necessary repairs to be made to bring these old shafts into
compliance with current safety regulations. Our estimate of
either of these sites' surface disturbance is 0.25 acres,
ample area to contain a small shaft headframe, shaft house
and enclosed hoisting facilities. (See Exhibit E -Map,
L-2)
Mine waste rock will be disposed of underground in
previously mined areas and in the waste rock disposal area
shown on the Hopemore Area Map, Scale 1" = 50', (See Exhibit
E - Map, MLR2) No trash or other refuse will be disposed of
