respond.
13. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(1), please verify whether the operation is expected to directly
affect surface or groundwater systems (by virtue of de-watering activities, the Division would
expect a direct affect on the groundwater system in the immediate azea). Please respond.
14. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(b), please identify and characterize the alluvial aquifer
that will be mined through and affected by the proposed mining activities. Included in this
assessment should be a description of the depth to groundwater throughout the two (2) cells to be
excavated and the seasonal variation in fluctuation of the groundwater surface throughout these
areas.
15. In conformance with Rule 3.1.6(1), please quantify the horizontal and vertical extent of the
drawdown expected in the affected land and surrounding azea based on the anticipated de-
watering rate and period of de-watering, ie: please provide an assessment of the impacts to
surface and/or groundwater due to de-watering operations. Also, please describe the location of
any groundwater wells, springs, irrigation channels, sub-irrigated meadows, wetlands, riparian or
woody vegetation, or other water dependent features within the horizontal extent of drawdown
expected.
16. In conformance with Rule 3.1.6(1), please describe what mitigation measures, if any, will be
implemented to minimize the impacts expected to surface and/or groundwater.
6.4.8 EXHIBIT H -Wildlife Information
17. As previously mentioned, attached aze review comments from the Colorado Division of
Wildlife including an assessment of potential impacts to wildlife and recommended mitigation
measures. Please address.
18. The applicant has mentioned that Tamarisk and Russian Olive trees exist within the proposed
permit boundary. Attached is the Division's "Policy Memo on Management of Tamarisk and
Russian Olive trees at Permitted Mine Sites" and "Guidelines for Noxious Weed Management
Plans". Please revise the proposed weed management plan to include provisions for management
of Tamarisk and Russian Olive trees within the proposed permit area. Also, specific weed
control strategies will also need to be included for field bindweed as well as Canada thistle, and
knapweed species on site. Please respond.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT L -Reclamation Costs
19. Will need to be revised to include the following itemized costs:
• de-watering the pit(s) a1 the time of maximum disturbance
• re-vegetate reclaimed mining face, above expected water line
