- DLAWIN[, fJo, pE-Z8-03G ~'tv. J
SN~~r i ~ 4
• ASSEhiBL2' SUGGESTIONS - BIN 19ALL DAMS
_- FOR ORCfIARD VALLEY h11NE SETTLING PONDS
A. Preliminary Steps
1. Separate the parts and stack like parts together.
attached and following for nomenclature of parts.
Column pieces (vertical connector)
Column cap (vertical connector cap)
Column splice
Stringer stiffener
Stringer
Connecting channel
Spacer
Bottom spacer
Grade plates
Bolts
Nuts
Spring clips
See
Bundles and stacks should be positioned so that water
-• will drain off parts.
v After parts are stacked and accessible, all parts
should be checked against the bill.of material.
2. Gages are stenciled on each stringer and spacer for
further indentification. The project drawing shoos
the spacers. Note that the bottom spacer is a
different shape and gage than the rest of the spacers.
3. Establish the front and rear Iines of the tiaall and the
location of each vertical connector.
Prepare an 8" bed for each grade plate at the proper
elevation.
If the base of the wall is below existing ground, ]8"
- 24" wide trenches may be dug for the lower wall
members. Trenches must be wide enough, in relation to
depth, to allow for proper compaction of backfill
adjacent to the members.
If solid rock or other unyielding soil is within S" of
the final elevation of the grade plates, this must be
• removed for an arcs of approximately 2' x 2' and re-
placed with an 8" thick layer o.f uncompacted fill.
,I
