<br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />~.xFII~I._T~I .._- W.il~l_t}v._In.fgrm~t.~o~ <br />Thv 330 acre site within the permit boundary contains the low <br />ground along Eight Mile Creek on the east side in addition to th[+ <br />uplands used for• paatur^e above the Creek and the Arkansas River-. <br />Bince the mining will occur on the upper dryland, only that area <br />will be addr^eased here. <br />' Mammals species which may frequent the area as noted in the <br />Colorado Latilong include shrew, cottontail rabbit, hack rabbit, <br />chipmunk, squir^rel, prairie dog, gopher, mouse, coyote, fox, mule <br />deer and prong horn. gird species include hawk, dove, owl, <br />' swallow, ,lay, wren, thrush, sparrow, blackbird, and finch. <br />Reptiles include snakes and box turtles. <br />' There is no important seasonal use in the area, and to our <br />knowledge no threatened or endangered species from either thE~ <br />Federal or State list frequent the land. Due to the proximity to <br />' the Fremont County Airport, the present sand and gravel mining <br />opet^ation, and the ranching operations, the wildlife in this area <br />have grown accustomed to human interference in their habitat. <br />The mining itself will be limited to the ten (10! acres of <br />' excavation and five (5! acre processing plant. 8lmilar types of <br />habitat exist along the north side of the Arkansas River end this <br />232 acres of disturbance will have no significant impact ors <br />wildlife. Except for• burrowing rodents, we expect much of the <br />wildlife to relocate and use other nearby areas.
