ESPEY, HUSTON b ASSOCIATES, INC.
`h
proposed revegetation will reestablish the life form, and in lazge pazt, the species
composition of the surrounding azeas in the mine bench azea.
2.11 WATER IMPOUNDMENTS
There aze no permanent water impoundments, except those already in
existence, planned for the Northern No. 1 (FF-Seam) Mine Site. The sediment pond
will be returned to its original use as a stock pond.
2.12 POST RECLAMATION MANAGEMENT
The reclaimed area will be protected from grazing by domestic livestock
by a fence for at least 2 yeazs or until the vegetation is sufficiently well established
to withstand properly regulated grazing. A sheep-tight fence will be constructed
azound the entire lease azea, tying into the existing highway fence. According to
the BLM, the 12-inch spacing between the barbed wire strands minimizes the
• entanglement of deer and elk attempting to cross the fences. This fence design will
also eliminate livestock trespass. The Colorado Division of Wildlife has concurred
with this fence design.
Should any prohibited noxious weeds appeaz or should weed development
begin to seriously affect seedling development, appropriate chemical means will be
used to control such weeds.
The proposed revegetation plan has been developed with elevation, soils,
slope, exposure, and local climate considerations. Grazing will be prevented in the
reclaimed azea for a period of at least 3 yeazs to allow successful establishment of
vegetation.
•
M-10
~~ ~~S/~
