eh ESPEY, NUSTON & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />• 2.8 SHRUB PLANTING <br />Originally, shrubs were to be planted at the rate o+ 2000 stems <br />per acre. This requirement was waived in Mine kevision 04 at the <br />request of the surface owners who felt that the shrub plantings <br />would 6e detrimental to the past-mining land use of grazing. <br />L:op><es of the revision submittal and approval are given on pagers <br />M-3D through M-3H. <br />2.9 FERTILIZING <br />• Topsoil will be tested shortly before respreading to determine the need <br />for nitrogen and phosphorus. Unless otherwise indicated by these tests, 100 lbs per <br />acre Superphosphate will be broadcast and worked into the upper 6 inches of topsoil <br />' prior to seeding. Also, unless otherwise indicated by test of the stored topsoil, <br />nitrogen fertilizer will be applied at the rate of 50 lb nitrogen per acre during the <br />summer of the year following seeding. Subsequent fertilizer application will be <br />limited to spot treatment of azea demonstrating conspicuous nutrient deficiencies. <br />2.10 SPECIES SELECTION <br />The proposed revegetation activity will establish a diverse, effective <br />native vegetational cover emphasizing native species of value to domestic animals <br />and wildlife which is capable of self-regeneration. Von-native plants included in the <br />revegetation plan aze less than 25 percent of the mixture and aze included to take <br />advantage of their eazly aggressive character and soil holding capabilities.
