1
EXHIBIT I (Cont'd)
' soil in the entire area, and it is unfortunate there
is not more of i.t. It has an excellent texture and
' chemistry to between 24 and 30 inches depth, but tends
to be very calcareous below that level. Below 15 inches
' it is a clay loam, but is still a good topsoil.
Organic matter levels in this soil are high. There is
' no hazard in salvaging the soil to a 24 to 30 inch
' depth.
' 8. Fondis-Kutch association - This is a very complex area
of clay loams, sandy loam, and even gravel. It ranges
' from 24 to 36 inches on upland sites to 4 to 8 inches
on lower, eroded slopes. The soil overlies arkosic
sandstone and is primarily of an aeolian origin. On
' this site it has a strong superficial resemblance to
the Newlin Series, but generally has more clay content.
' Where the soil exceeds 24 inches depth it would be
safe to salvage soil to about 24 inches depth, but
below that too much calcium would be introduced into
the topsoil. 67ore shallow soils could be salvaged

to their full depth.
' 9. Kutch Series - This, like the Fondis-Kutch association,
' is a mixture of many different soils that range from
sandy loams to clay loams. h4apping of all the different
units would be diffi cult and of questionable value.

- 28 -
