/%~~
4-1
4.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT
4.1 Land Use
4.1.1 Site Specific Land Use
This requested adjustment to the permit boundary, to facilitate
ancillary activities associated with future Salt Creek mining
operations in the area, does not encompass a land use category
or situation other than previously identified in the original
application and permit, C-020-81. The permit area land use is
shown in Figure 2.1-15.
The permit area does encompass more agriculturally active lands
(irrigated cropping) but the physical disturbance to such lands
(2.9 acres) is insignificant (see Section 4.1.3.4.4).
The proposed permit area, as well as the general area of the
six block tract, is not within an area designated as unsuita-
ble for underground mining under 30 CFR 764 or 765 or within an
• area under study for such designation.
4.1.2 Prime Farmland
Based upon soil characterizations, the soils within the proposed
permit area (as adjusted) would not qualify as prime farmland.
A negative declaration was requested from the United Stated De-
partment of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, and has been
provided in Appendix Js.
