3-10 <br />• <br />n <br />U <br />• <br />3.3.2 Seed Mixture <br />In addition to that information contained in the original <br />application, a refuse area including primarily shadscale <br />cheatgrass occuring on Billings clay loam soils, and 2.9 acres of <br />irrigated alfalfa on Glendive and Havre loams exist within the <br />permit area. An adjusted seed mixture that would include these <br />types is presented in Table 3.4-15. This seed mix is a "wide" <br />mix, in that it includes species adapted to a considerable range <br />of soil and moisture conditions. <br />3.3.3 Seeding Techniques and Rates <br />Seed will be planted using either broadcast or a seed drill. If <br />broadcast, the mix listed in Table 3.4-1 will be spread at the <br />rate of 40 pls per acre. Following broadcast, a chain drag or <br />similar implement will be used to improve seed cover. <br />Where drill seeding is used, the mix listed in Table 3.4-1 will be <br />planted at the rate of 20 p.l.s. per acre. The drill used <br />will be a rangeland drill with depth bands (1/2"), double disc <br />furrow openers, and packer wheels, or a grain drill equipped in <br />similar fashion. <br />3.3.4 Mulching <br />On slopes less steep than 3:1, mulch will be applied in two <br />stages.
