3-9
3.3 REVEGETATZON
•
Reclamation of all areas, other than the refuse disposal area
involve basically the same considerations approved by the CMLR for
the Munger Canyon Permit. The refuse area involves primarily
shadscale cheatgrass, and revegetation of the refuse area will be
directed toward a successful re-establishment of the desirable
plants of the shadscale cheatgrass vegetation type. Toward this
end, a mixture of shrubs will be planted in the following
proportions: 80~ shadscale saltbush, 10~ gardner saltbush, and 10~
winter fat. With a plant density of 1,000 shrubs per acre and an
assumed 50% survival, at least 500 stems per acre of these
desirable speies will result. In addition, inevitable invasion
by less desirable species such as broom snakeweed from adjacent
stands will doubtless occur, resulting in total stem densities
higher than 500 stems per acre. The reader is also referred to
Section 3.5.7 of the original Munger submittal.
3.3.1 Seedbed Preparation
Prior to seeding, the topsoiled surfaces will be ripped if they
have become compacted by vehicle or equipment traffic. If
broadcast seeding is to be employed, the surface will be left
somewhat rough. If drill seeding is planned, the surface will be
worked as necessary with disc, plow, harrow, and or cultipacker to
achieve a smooth, firm seedbed.
•
1/17/86
