3-7
3.2 RECLAMATION

3.2.1 Reclamation of Agricultural Lands
Agricultural lands identified for disturbance (2.9 acres) will be
restored to a condition at least equal to that existing now.
Disturbed land will be regraded to appropriate contours and
topsoil spread evenly to a depth of 29" as was the condition
prior to disturbance.
After topsoil has been replaced and the seedbed prepared,
fertilized regiirements will be analized, the area will be
fertilized, and the area will be seeded to alfalfa and grasses as
• shown on Table 3.4-1s. Irrigation will then be recontinued in the
area. Irrigation paterns will be established that will allow
maximum growth of the reclaimed area. The use of local irrigation
practices will be adopted if possible.
Average production of irrigated alfalfa was estimated by the
rancher to be between 4 to 5 tons per acre. It is anticipated
that production on the reclaimed agricultural land will fall into
this range. Revegetation sucess will be monitored by clipping
samples prior to harvest and making direct comparisons to the
pre-mining production.
•
1/17/86
