~~ N
~•
EXHIBIT E
Reclamation Plan
When the mining operation has been completed, the area will be
left as a SS acre lake with a 50 foot undisturbed area around the
perimeter adjacent to the property lines. IVhen the reclamation has
been completed, the property will be turned over to the owner. The
landowner will leave the area for a wildlife habitat or use it for
recreational purposes such as a picnic area with the lake used for
boating and fishing.
Before the mining operation begins, the topsoil will be stripped
and stockpiled. After one phase of the mining operation has been c~m-
pleted, the topsoil will be placed (at a minimum depth of six inches)
on the side slopes to the water level. Side slopes will be maintained
at a ratio of 3 to 1 from the existing ground surface to 10 feet
• below the water surface. It is expected that the water level in the
pond will remain at a constant level of about 3 feet below the exist-
ing ground surface.
Side slopes will be seeded with a mixture of Western IVheatgrass
and Streambank Wheatgrass at the application rate recommended by th~~
Soil Conservation Service in Delta. See Exhibits I and J for seedin,3
recommendations. Fertilizing, weed control and water will be condu=ted
in order to insure maximum growth.
The time required to complete each phase of the reclamation is ex-
pected to be from one to two years. The longest portion of this tune
being that required to re-establish the grasses on the side slopes.
During the mining and reclamation process, wildlife will leave ':he
affected area. Before stripping and mining operations begin, efforts
will be made to see that all animals have left the site. After the min-
ing and reclamation have been completed, most of the species should
return to the perimeter areas of the pond. Ducks and other waterfotal
can be expected to make use of the pond.
