including road base, pit run gravel, asphalt and possibly some excess overburden as select fill. The
LJ
average production is expected to be 55,000 tons per year, which is more reflective of the demand
in the few yeaz prior to 2006.
The breakdown of the total permit acreage given below is based on a worst case disturbance for the
life of the pit:
Permit Area Description Acreage
1. Soil/Overburden Stockpiles 1.8
2. Processing area (in mined out area) 2.4
3. Product stockpile azea (in mined out azea) 1.3
4. Mining azea in Strips 1 through 4 (including topsoil stripping, active pit, roads) 14.1
5. Sediment Control Ponds, Traps and Ditches 1.6
6. Areas Below Strips 1, 2, 3 an 4 not actually disturbed except for collection ditch 5.2
7. Undisturbed azeas 9.6
Total Permit Area 36.0
Although the entire disturbed area totals 26.44 acres, the actual disturbance is approximately11.3
acres, since #6 above is not actually disturbed. These areas aze between the lower edge of Strips 1,
2, 3, and 4 and the sediment control ditch located west and south of the strip azeas. It also includes a
portion of area south of the southern edge of Strip ] to the access road. These areas are included
within the overall disturbance since they have disturbance on both sides. The Reclamation Plan
described how the true disturbed azeas (26.44 ac - 5.2 ac) = 21.24 acres, will be reclaimed.
Dozers may also be used to mine the material on site or move soiUoverburden, This plant consists
of a portable rock crusher and screen plant to obtain the desired material sizes. Up to 3 portable
stacker conveyors aze used to stockpile the various sizes of material. Processed material is stored in
stockpile azeas as shown on Map C-2. Any fines from the crushing/screening operation will also be
salvaged and used in the reclamation although the past operation on the site has produced very little
fines. The crushing/screening has been done by subcontractors on a dry basis. This method will
continue to be employed in the future, although Western Gravel reserves the right to process the
Betlgazd[ Pit 1/06 7
